New Member First Steps

Step 1: Update Your Profile Information

We use this information to mail your certificates and add you to organizational phone calls. Please make sure the information is accurate!

  1. Go to Your Account settings by clicking here
  2. Complete all blank form fields (leave Company blank!)
  3. If you are on your desktop, save the link to profile in your bookmarks by clicking here

Thats it! If your information changes, just go back to Your Account in the menu to update that info!

Step 2: Slack

Slack is a secure, private way to call or text members of your council and other members of your organization.

  1. Download the Slack app to your phone (for Apple devices click here , for Android devices click here). If you use Slack on desktop, you can add the app to your computer too!
  2. Click here to access your profile
    • Scroll down and click the ‘Edit Profile’ button
    • Under ‘What I Do’ enter your member number
    • Click Save
  3. If you are on your desktop, save the link to Slack in your bookmarks by clicking here

Thats it! You now have access to Slack!

Step 3: Trello

Trello is how we get things done in your organization. Assign tasks to other members, set due dates and priorities, and  finish projects all in one place.

  1. Download the Trello app to your phone (for Apple devices click here , for Android devices click here)
  2. Create your Trello account. Important! Add a picture or an image to your profile!
  3. If you are on your desktop, save the link to Trello in your bookmarks by clicking here
  4. Join the All Members Trello board used to submit votes for approval during the SOTA calls (click here)

Thats it! You now have access to Trello!

Step 4: Zoom

Zoom is how your circle will meet. You are able to do video chats, screen sharing, and file sharing.

  1. Download the Zoom app to your phone (for Apple devices click here , for Android devices click here)
  2. If you are on your desktop, download the Zoom software by clicking here
  3. Create your Zoom account.

Thats it! You now have access to Zoom!

Step 5: Google Drive

Google Drive is our ‘library’ or where we store pdfs, finished documents, and other files.

  1. Download the Google Drive app to your phone (for Apple devices click here , for Android devices click here)
  2. If you are on a desktop, save a link to Google Drive in your bookmarks toolbar by clicking here
  3. Create your account or sign in using an existing email account

Thats it! You now have access to Google Drive!

Backup and Emergency Accounts

Google Drive is our ‘library’ or where we store pdfs, finished documents, and other files.

  1. If Slack is down, use Facebook to communicate. Request an invitation to the private group by clicking here.
  2. If Zoom is down, use Uberconference to hold your meetings. Save this phone number in your phone and name it United Black America: 404-448-2002
  3. Organizational news is released via email occasionally. Sign up to the email list by clicking here

Thats it! You now have access to Google Drive!
